Aug 25: One of our coordinator is visiting Periyar Maniammai College of Engineering and Technology, Vallam to learn about Gasifier(Biomass), a non coventional energy source. Aug 24: Our website was updated; Chennai members conducted their monthly meeting. Aug 23: Coimbatore Bishop Appasamy College students(51 girls and 37 boys) are now camped in Vavipalayam for a special NSS camp on "Rainwater Harvesting and Cleanliness in villages". The students will stay in the village till Aug 31st. Aug 16: Sivakumar.M from Chennai and Ashok kumar from Udumalpet visited our villages. They visited the alternate school in East and West Kullampalayam. Aug 14: Our Founder Sundaramoorthy and our president Senthil Kumar Arumugam met Coimbatore district Collector and presented their plans for Non conventional energy sources and Self Help.Group(SHG). Aug 11: We started to promote Pollachi Nasan's initiative of publishing old Tamil magazines in CDs. July 20: SSL Coimbatore, Vavipalayam and Chennai members visited Kuthampakkam. www.modelvillageindia.org June 29: Mr.Ananthanarayanan from Chennai and his son Mr.Arvind from Canada visited Kaluveripalayam, Kottapalayam Night school and Vavipalayam panchayat office. They came along with Mr.Ramakrishnan( professor in School of management, Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore) and Mrs.Shyamala Ramakrishnan(Pennurimai Eiyakkam). The purpose of the visit was to get a first hand information about SSL's activities in Vavipalayam Panchayat. June 22: Sindhanai Sirpigal Chennai chapter meeting happened in Thiruvanmiyur,Chennai. June 21: With the sponsorship from Newjersey,USA a poor girl student with good academic peformance(1047/1200 in +2) was admitted to Govt Arts College, Tiruppur. We'll sponsor her college fees till the completion of the course(3 years). June 18: Sindhanai Sirpigal-Canada member Mr.Saravamoorthy & his colleague Mr.Kris Saini took the initiative to sponsor notebooks to poor students. Mr.Kris Saini took the lead. With the support from their other colleagues Mr.Shiv Sharma, Mr.Amitabh Sharma, Mr.Ratish Patra, Mr.Shailesh Saxena, Mr.Raman Chockalingam, Mr.Kamal-El-Ajouz, Mr.Praveen Malhotra, Mr.Panchaksharappa Budihal, Mr.Dandamudi Srihari & Mr.Joseph Choi they have pooled Rs.7125/- and sent the same to Sindhanai Sirpigal-India today. Apr 20: Our Vice President Mr.MuthuKumar Arumugam(OHIO,USA) is visiting Vavipalayam. He has planned to interact with the local youths. He'll also visit our Night Schools. Apr 14: Works are going on to start our 4th Night School in Vavipalayam village on Tamil New year(April 14).This Night School is sponsored byIndiaforward.com and it will be useful to educate 25-50 illiterates. Apr 4: Our founder Mr.Sundaramoorthy represented SSL and Vavipalayam panchayat in a Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan(SSA) meeting in Coimbatore. Coimbatore District coordinator of SSA appreciated our works in Night Schools. SSA is a Programme for universal elementary education. Feb 28 - March 09: NSS Camp from Govt Arts College, Coimbatore - 150 NSS Volunteers have camped at vavipalayam. They will be used to conduct awareness programs, surveys, tree planting, maintenance of public places..etc. Feb 22: Article about us in Indian Express: Article with the title "Sindhanai Sirpigal, a Coimbatore based NGO, is working towards President Abdul Kalam's vision of a "developed India" got published in Indian Express- City Express chennai edition" Feb 2 - 12 : NSS Camp from parks College, Tirupur - 40 NSS volunteers were camped at Vavipalayam. They have done various cultural activities, school renovation and tree planting. Jan 26 Republic day celebration: Students from 8 schools in the panchayat were gathered at Vavipalayam middle school. Cultural and sports competition were conducted and prizes were distributed on the same day.
